MISSION

The mission of this Food Lab is help food entrepreneurs within our community to formalize and grow their business for long term success by providing the necessary tools and support.

PURPOSE

Sixty percent of restaurants do not make it past their first year and eighty percent go out of business in five years. These statistics are overwhelming, but we focus on increasing the 20% success rate. The facility will prepare our food entrepreneurs to run their businesses successfully in the long run.

 

To do this, we will provide location and technical assistance to local food entrepreneurs to build both culinary and business skills. Providing basic business skills, marketing packages, and acceleration pathways we aim to focus on longterm success for graduating companies .

WHAT IS THE FOOD INCUBATOR PROGRAM?

The purpose of our project is to create a space and programmatic support that will be used to help local food entrepreneurs further develop their culinary skills and boost their business endeavors. Entrepreneurs will be chosen to join an annual cohort of 6-8 companies who will be provided free tutoring and discounted access to the kitchen and to rent space. The program will run for 6-9 months where they would be given the opportunity to build their business and prepare to continue elsewhere. Chosen individuals will build upon their culinary and food industry skills, learn about important business operations like how to market and brand their product, and connect with potential clients and investors to expand or launch their business.
